Carol comes home to her husband Don and he grills her about where she's been. Suspicious, he presses her, and sure enough, she confesses: she was out on a shopping trip! They had agreed not to spend any more money until they met with a financial planner, but she caved in to the after-Christmas sales. Don, however, tells Carol not to worry he may have a plan. He explains that with a lower interest rate on a new credit card, they will save hundreds. Plus, if they take out a home equity loan, they can write off the interest from that. The combined savings will add up to thousands of dollars, according to his calculations. Of course, the whole plan is fraught with screwball reasoning, but no matter--he's got the bags packed for Cancun, and she's ready to go too!
