Darin Bowman - Cascade Park Baptist Church Vancouver, WA Posted on 2/8/2006| | I have been teaching Good $ense for the last three years. I found my ministry passion watching people gain the freedom that a God-honoring view of money provides. I recently discovered my life vision statement because of my teaching transformational stewardship - I work to help free God's people to be ready for God's calling. For those who are looking for a meaningful ministry with a kingdom-focus, stewardship is a good place to start.... [ more >> ] |
Tyler Hart - Arvada Vineyard Church - Arvada, CO Posted on 1/18/2006| | Good $ense is literally the best thing that ever happened to me and I couldn't wait to share it with others! My pastors were very supportive of the idea even though they weren't familiar with the program because they felt we had a big need for it, and God showed up in a big way during our first session.
Since I didn't have a team together, we set up round tables in the sanctuary and I used the Dick Towner DVD. I did the intro and Q&A between sessions and that was all. Nine peopl... [ more >> ] |
Susan and Jason MacDonald - Good Sense Participants Posted on 12/19/2005| |
I thought it was time to submit our success story about how the Good Sense Course has revolutionized our lives!
In May 2003, my husband (Jason) and I were married. I had written the last final of my university degree in engineering 20 days before our wedding. Prior to our wedding, we got our mortgage to take over the mortgage from the friend I owned the house with; this was our first big financial error. We took enough mortgage to cover the mortgage, plus paying out my... [ more >> ] |
Jeff Herron - Grant's Lick Baptist Church - Grant's Lick, KY Posted on 8/15/2005| | Following is a very encouraging message we received from one of our Good $ense friends, and with his permission, we're sharing this with all our readers! - WCA Good $ense
********************
Just wanted to pass along a quick note or encouragement, hope, and celebration to all of our friends and family.
After nearly a decade of work, Darah and I have paid off the last of our credit cards! Huzzah! Of course, I can't drag poor Darah into this too much. Most of... [ more >> ] |
Chris DeGraff - Church of the Open Door - Maple Grove, MN Posted on 3/9/2005| | Chris received the following email excerpt from their Pastor of Prayer Ministry:
".....thanks for what you're doing to help people bring their finances into Kingdom order. I can't tell you how many RTP(Restoration Through Prayer) appointments we have had where the individual or couple have come to some core understanding about God because of Good $ense.”

R.G., Pastor from New Jersey - Feedback following CCN Good $ense broadcast 2/21/04 Posted on 2/25/2004| | This past Saturday we hosted the CCN Good Sense Budget Course. This is the first time that we have ever done this kind of ministry here at our church, and I must tell you I have been overwhelmed with the positive comments made by the participants. It was a joy as a pastor to see the eyes of the people opened up to a practical, grace filled, creative presentation. I challenged each of them that I was going to call them within 48 hours to see that they had done their homework. Without excep... [ more >> ] |
M.J., Pastor from South Carolina - Feedback following CCN Good $ense broadcast 2/21/04 Posted on 2/25/2004| | Thank you for the work you have done in putting the course together. It’s extraordinary. One of our participants compared it to her experiences with another major Christian finance seminar and said that Good $ense left her with a much stronger feeling of hope. She felt encouraged whereas the other experience left her feeling doomed.... [ more >> ] |
B.S., Participant from Ontario, Canada - Feedback following CCN Good $ense broadcast 2/21/04 Posted on 2/22/2004| | I took your course yesterday and I would first of all like to express my utmost appreciation for giving this course. I'm a single lady.....struggling with debt.....and simply want to thank-you for giving me a totally new view of my responsibility financially as a Christian, and how I should be treating anything that I "own". The "Pearl of Great Price" video blew me away, giving me a visual that is not even close to anything that I have thought of before. I feel a new freedom now that I realize t... [ more >> ] |
David Braun - Court Drive Church of Christ - Palestine, Texas Posted on 4/2/2003| | I am overwhelmed at the response from our congregation. We have 38 registered for the course from a church membership of 180. I used clips from the video "The Vision" which were shown each week followed by a short information and invitation announcement. We also placed it in the bulletin and made posters in several key areas of our church building. I am excited and looking forward to next Saturday. I will advise of our success!
My thanks to Willow Creek and Dick Towner for this great cours... [ more >> ] |
Don Kruse - Good Shepherd Church, Cincinnati, OH Posted on 2/10/2003| | Attending a Good $ense workshop allowed my wife and I a greater understanding of what an awesome responsibility we have to use the gifts that belong to God in a good and holy manner.
Each of us came away with a better recognition that we are truly blessed. We are much more appreciative of the treasures and gifts for which we have been entrusted as a result of Good $ense teachings.... [ more >> ] |
Jonathan Kopke - Cincinnati, Ohio Posted on 7/23/2002| | When we first organized what came to be known as our church’s “StewardLife” ministry, eight of us sat around a dining room table and formed a covenant based on what may seem like an unlikely verse from the Old Testament: “Ezra set his heart to study the law of the Lord, and to practice it, and to teach God’s statues and ordinances in Israel.” (Ezra 7:10)
In the context of that verse, we saw that Ezra did three things, and God did three things in response. Ezra studied the law of the ... [ more >> ] |
Bryan Richardson - Wichita, KS Posted on 5/1/2001| | During the Good $ense Budget Course I came to the point of seeing truth about money and "stuff"--mammon--more clearly than ever before. Your treatment of the material itself was outstanding. You got out of the way of the truth. That"s how I would describe it.
For the first time, I could see stewardship not as a strategy but as a call of God. In fact when Jesus says, "follow me," I can now hear the call to the total disposition of material things. I shall spend the rest of my time learning ... [ more >> ] |
Linda Nkosi - Kagiso-Krugersdrop, South Africa Posted on 6/1/2000| | I have really learned a lot from [the Good $ense] workshop [held in South Africa. This is my testimony.
I had nine credit accounts (charge accounts) and was struggling to pay them. With the little faith that God has planted in me . . . I cancelled seven of the nine. I remember Gloria telling us how to deal with market promotions. She [said], “when you see an advertisement of a sale with 40% off, be wise to know that you are not saving 40% but you are paying 60%! So I have learned to buy on... [ more >> ] |
C. D. Maxwell - South Barrington, IL Posted on 6/1/1998| | In January 1990 a friend convinced me to attend the Good $ense Budget Workshop. Even though I was "successful" financial planner who had always lived within my means, saved for my kids' education and for retirement...the Budget Course changed my life.
As new believers, my wife and I were feeling led to increase giving but couldn't see how or where the money would come from. When we wrote down the prior year's spending and prepared our first budget, we were able to cut a little bit here and... [ more >> ] |
Karen Nelson - Arlington Heights, IL Posted on 5/1/1994| | When I sought out the Good $ense Ministry in the fall of 1993, I was in debt, felt convicted that I had been mishandling God's money, and could not see how I was going to get out of the hole I had gotten into.
During the three months I met with one of your counselors, I was listened to, guided into getting onto a budget, and encouraged to whittle away the debt over time. I saw as I stopped panicking and remained on a budget, money I allotted for my expenses was available when I needed it.<... [ more >> ] |
